The PADI Emergency First Response course is offered by Jack's Dive Center, Inc. Jack's Dive Center has been training divers since 1975. We are PADI facility #20 out of over 5000 facilities world wide.
Emergency First Response, as approved by the American Heart Association, covers primary care, secondary surveys, and lastly, treatments, according to the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
Emergency First Response is a basic training course in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency care. It is a medically based course, which means that it is designed to train students to follow, at the lay person's level, the same emergency procedures and priorities used by paramedics and doctors. These techniques provide the patient with a continuity of care as that patient is passed from the first person on the scene (using the techniques of Emergency First Response) to the paramedics and finally to the doctors in the emergency room.
The skills of patient care necessary to support the life of an ill or injured person are covered in module form, in which practical application and hands-on practice are emphasized. Students learn these skills in the same sequence they will use in caring for a patient. The ten basic skills covered in this course are: 1. Setup and Barriers, 2. Primary Assessment, 3. Rescue breathing, 4. One-rescuer CPR. 5. Choking Management, 6. Control of Bleeding, 7. Shock Management, 8. Continuing primary circle of care, 9. Illness Assessment, 10. Injury Assessment. In addition, 22 other subjects are also covered.
CERTIFICATION IS GOOD FOR TWO YEARS, UNLIKE OTHER AGENCIES THAT REQUIRE YEARLY RE-CERTIFICATION.
Upon successful completion of the course you will receive an internationally recognized Emergency First Response card.
